I’m thinking of changing jobs but I’m not sure what I want to do. Can coaching help?
It depends on your situation and what you need. Everyone is different. We will work with you to understand your career to date and your skills and strengths as well as your aspirations for the future. We can then help you to define your personal and career goals, explore your options and provide you with tailored support to help you make the right decisions about your future career and achieve your potential.
We provide a range of services and we’ll talk you through these at the initial appointment.
There’s a change coming at work. I’m worried about losing my job. What can you do for me?
We understand that changes in the work place can be unsettling, even if your job is not at risk. The prospect of losing your job or being made redundant can cause real anxiety and distress. We can help you:
•Understand the changes and work out how they may affect you
•Think about the possible outcomes and what your options are
•Put together a plan to help you manage your transition, whatever the outcome
•Build your confidence and resilience for the future
I’ve been with the same employer for years. They are closing down and I need to find a new job. I don’t know where to start.
You are not alone. Many of us have been in the same job for several years and have not had to think about looking for a new job or going for an interview. We can design a coaching programme and help you plan a successful job search campaign, focusing on:
•Navigating today’s jobs market with confidence
•Undertaking effective job search, making use of social media and networking opportunities
•Understanding your skills and strengths and which kinds of job are right for you
•Presenting your skills and experience persuasively in applications and with an up-to-date CV
•Performing confidently in assessments and interviews
Can you get me a new job?
We can support, advise and to help you maximise your recruitment potential but the responsibility for getting a new role rests with you. We cannot give guarantees of success.
Will you draft my job applications and my CV for me?
We can point you in the right direction, give you best practice tips and we can give you feedback on your drafting, but we cannot write job applications, profiles or CVs for you. They must be your own work.
How long will it take me to get a job?
Not an easy question to answer. It depends on a range of things, such as: what kind of job you are looking for and how many vacancies exist in your area, how active you are in your job search, your level of experience and qualifications, the quality of your application and how well you perform at any interviews.
Different employers use different recruitment processes so you need to be prepared to go through more than one kind of selection process, some of which can be lengthy. You also need to bear in mind that you may be competing with others.
The important thing is not to give up and have confidence in yourself and your abilities.
I’m worried my skills won’t transfer well to another role
It’s easy to under-estimate yourself and your value to a prospective employer. We will work with you to assess your skills and strengths and help you understand how they can transfer to new roles and organisations.
I’m going back to work after a long break. Can coaching help me ease back into work?
Whether you are going back after maternity/paternity leave, a period of illness or a break for other reasons, we can help you plan your return to the workplace and support you as you transition back into your role. We will tailor our support to meet your needs.
How long are the coaching sessions?
You will have an initial consultation/meeting with a coach so that we can assess your needs and agree a programme for you. We normally recommend an initial package of six one-to-one, face-to-face coaching sessions but if you feel you need more we can adjust your programme and the costs to suit
We are reducing our workforce. How can we support the employees that are leaving us?
Workforce reductions can be hard on everyone, including employers who are leading the changes and making difficult decisions about which employees are staying with the organisation and which are not. We also understand that looking after your colleagues during the transition is important.
We have a wealth of experience in designing and running outplacement support services. We can work with you to design and run group information sessions and outplacement support workshops for colleagues who will be leaving, as well as offering one-to-one support for those that need it. We will design the programme to suit your needs and your budget.
